The Editor-in-Chief takes final responsibility for all published articles and must appoint, lead and develop the volunteer editorial board and work closely with the Managing Editor (Springer) for issue compilation. The role requires a high level of expertise to provide strategic oversight as well as ensure effective day to day management of editorial content. An understanding of the publishing environment and how it is changing is necessary, as well as significant editorial experience.
The Editor-in-Chief reports to the ISAPS Board, and will be appointed for three years in the first instance with the option of a further term by mutual consent. This role comes with an honorarium.
The duties of the Editor-in-Chief will include:
- Collaborating with the ISAPS Board and the Publisher to develop strategy to ensure the highest clinical impact of the Journal and to attract, serve, and retain authors and subscribers
- Taking responsibility for the scientific content and oversee the Editorial process
- Appointing and leading the development of the Editorial Board
- Increasing the international profile of the Journal: soliciting, publishing and promoting authoritative, original high-quality content in Aesthetic Plastic Surgery
- Supervising and working closely with the Managing Editor to develop editorial policy, manage the peer review process, reviewer selection, and communication with authors
- Ensuring the rapid and efficient handling of all submitted papers and maintaining the flow of accepted papers at a level and on a schedule for publication 6 times per year, aiming to maintain the current submission to publication timelines
- Dealing with ethical issues or conflicts of interests arising
